How to Select Default color for Tshirt on Merch By Amazon

This is one question that I have seen posted in all Merch related groups literally like hundred of times.

Everyone whether new or established seller wanted to know how they can select default color for Tshirt on Merch By Amazon while submitting the design.

We all understand that not all design look great on all tshirt color so seller would want to choose the default tshirt color so best combination is displayed to anyone searching for tshirts.

Till now it was left to the mercy of Amazon as it was believed that they select the color randomly first and then later based on the popularity & sales of any particular color.

But as a seller you couldn’t do anything to change or select the default tshirt color for your designs.

Finally…… THERE IS A SOLUTION…

Drums Rolling…..

How to select default tshirt color on Merch By Amazon

When you are in process of submitting a design and are on color selection page (see below), you need to select colors in a particular order so that your chosen color is set as default.

Now depending on how many colors you want live, here is the order of selection.

Total Colors that you want LIVE Default Color Selection
2 colors 2nd color that you select will become default
3 colors 1st color that you select will become default
4 colors 1st color that you select will become default
5 colors 2nd color that you select will become default

So, if you want black to be your default color and want to select 5 colors in total here is what our selection should be.

5 colors               :    2nd color that you select will become default

Firstly make sure you deselect the default ‘Silver’ that is selected by Amazon.

Then pick any color as 1st choice (other than black) and then select ‘Black’ and finally pick rest 3 colors.

Don’t select ‘Youth’ until you do the color selection as this hack won’t work.

Go ahead and complete other details and submit your design. This is it.

You know the secret now. Share it with as many sellers as you can.

As you might know that you can’t change a Tshirt color once it’s Live so this hack will work for new designs only.

This quick hack that was first reported by Neil on Merch Informer and discovered by Reddit user HipsterNipple. Special thanks to you both.
